The Kimberley will soon play host to a new multi-agency operation aimed at combating the unprecedented levels of illegal fishing vessels entering Australian waters.

Australia Border Force’s Operation Leedstrum Assistant Commissioner Kylie Rendina told Sean Cowan on 6PR Mornings a dramatic growth in the number of vessels has prompted cross-agency action.

“Whole-of-government efforts have ended in 36 illegal foreign fisherman being stopped in this week alone,” Ms Rendina said.
