Urgent call for action: Teacher shortage sparks stress crisis

As the teacher population dwindles, the stress levels are skyrocketing, prompting a need for better management strategies.
Dr Saul Karnovsky from Curtinās School of Education joined Oliver Peterson onĀ Perth LiveĀ to discuss the ‘cruel wellbeing’ approach that is adding to teachers’ stress.
“The federal government has conservatively said within the next couple of years we will be around 4,000 teachers short, I think that’s far too conservative, it’s going to be a lot more unless we really do pay attention to what teachers say,” Dr Karnovsky said.
“Unless the federal and state government really start thinking about tangible reforms around workload to start with, this problem is just going to get worse.”
