The co-founder of one of the world’s most successful gender violence prevention programs says Australia is a prime prospect for the program, being susceptible to the same influences as the US.

The Mentors in Violence Prevention is one of the longest-running and most widely influential gender violence prevention programs in North America, and the first major program of its kind in the sports culture and the military.

Co-founder of  Mentors in Violence Prevention Jackson Katz is currently in WA, and told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the “initiative and uprising” of Australians, especially women, in the face of domestic violence was inspiring.

“There’s lots of potential for progress, because young men are just as susceptible to the wrong message as the ones I’ve seen back home,” Mr Katz said.
