‘Very happy to be on the ground’: Passengers and pilots on Qantas’ latest mid-flight engine scare
The pilots and crew of a Qantas Plane involved in an overnight scare have been praised for keeping passengers calm, after one of the plane’s engines was shut down mid-flight.
A flight from Melbourne to Perth landed safely last night after pilots reported an issue with one of the plane’s engines.
The engine was manually shut down and the pilot requested a priority landing at Perth Airport.
Passenger Rianna Brittain told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast they heard a “loud bang” as the plane approached it’s destination.

We were all a bit worried, but the cabin crew were very good and looked after us… I am very happy to be on the ground,” she said.
AIPA Vice President Captain Mark Hofmeyer told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings praised the pilots and crew, who he says were well-prepared.
