‘Very successful’ talks with Xi Jinping, declares Albanese
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has taken on high-level conversations with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who hailed the visit as a new era in relations.
Strategic Analysis Australia director Michael Shoebridge says there’s an enormous gap between the words that come out of the Chinese leader’s mouth about China wanting peace and building trust and mutual respect, and the actions of his military and his intelligence services.
“This was all about the vibe, frankly, and the problem is the vibe looks way too uncritically positive when we see all this other behaviour by China,” Mr Shoebridge told Gary Adshead on 6pr Mornings.
Mr. Shoebridge warned big trading partners of more exposure to the lucrative nation as Australia is already the most economically exposed major economy in the world when dealing with China.
