A whale sighted off the Perth coast over the weekend has sadly beached itself on Rockingham, raising concerns for its survival.

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is warning locals top not approach the animal, which is clearly in distress.

Nine News reporter Emma Griffiths told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings authorities are trying to work out a plan to provide relief to the whale and hopefully return it to the ocean.
