WA Avocado industry facing potentially “catastrophic” damage from shot-hole borer
Farmers in the state’s South West are calling for urgent government action as the shot-hole borer beetle threatens to cause “catastrophic” damage to avocado plantations.
Avocado grower Dean French told Jamie Burnett on 6PR Weekends more needs to be done to prevent the spread of the pest.
“It has the potential to be a really big problem if it gets into the forest,” said Mr French.
“There can be a lot more done… But the government agencies have the monopoly on that one.”
