WA council threatens legal action against keyboard warriors

Article image for WA council threatens legal action against keyboard warriors

The regional WA Shire of Dundas has had enough of locals slandering the council through social media, and has sent out Cease and Desist letters to those accused of spreading lies.

Shire CEO Peter Fitchat told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings there were a number of residents using social platforms as their soapbox of choice, but refused to back up their comments outside the internet.

“Unfortunately, they don’t engage at all,” Mr Fitchat said.

“I walk past them on the street and they don’t say anything; they don’t talk to elected members, they don’t come to council. then they hop on Facebook.”
