WA film and TV studio a step closer, with location announced

WA’s first dedicated screen production facility is a step closer with today’s announcement it will be built on a 16-hectare site within the Malaga METRONET station precinct.
Whiteman Park was revealed as the preferred location for the $100 million state of the art film studio by 6PR eight months ago.
At the time Fremantle port was secretly scrapped after logistical problems and a budget blowout.Â
Film Critic, Mark Naglazas, told Oly Peterson on Perth Live Whiteman park the Industry seems much happier with this choice
“It doesn’t have the noise problems and traffic problems of Fremantle. It’s closer to the airport, it’s got that run to the airport with the trainline…”
“But more important perhaps than the studio itself or the physical space is high technology, and that’s the cost,” Mr Naglazas said.
“So there’s a lot of things involved in this.”
