A 77-year-old Albany man has died after his pet kangaroo attacked him and then prevented paramedics from getting near enough to help.

It is Australia’s first fatal kangaroo attack since 1936.

6PR and Nine News reporter Jack Hahn told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast that emergency services were called to the house by family members on Sunday afternoon, when things went from bad to worse.

“The kangaroo was actually blocking paramedics from getting onto the property, so WA Police had to also arrive on scene and euthanise the kangaroo with a firearm,” he said.
