WA’s top cop laments police not being informed of AFL legend Wayne Carey’s eviction from Crown Perth on Thursday night after he was found with a bag containing white powder.

Col Blanche told Gareth Parker in his regular segment on 6PR Breakfast police are investigating the incident but were “on the back foot”, while Carey claims the bag contained painkillers and nothing illegal.

“If there was any suspicion by any person that there were drugs possessed … I would have expected a phone call to police to manage the matter, if it was in fact drugs … we don’t have the drugs in our possession and neither do Crown,” he said.

Meanwhile the Police Commissioner was tight lipped as the Corruption and Crime Commission investigates allegations of misconduct against high profile officer Cameron Blaine, who has been stood down pending the investigation.

Blaine rose to prominence last year when he led the rescue of Cleo Smith in Carnarvon.
