WA sets new world record… for being too bloody hot
Usually one of the epicentres of the Great Heat at this time of year, Carnarvon has now entered the record books for being the hottest place in the world for 2024 so far.
With the number of days above 40 degrees Celsius set to reach double digits this month, it’s undeniable that heatwaves are here to stay for WA.
Julie-anne Sprague talks to the Bureau of Meteorology’s Caroline Crow about the record, and just how many more days we’ll probably have to deal with the heat.
“Carnarvon reached 49.9 degrees yesterday, which is a new record,” Ms Crow said.
