The national unemployment rate has risen significantly – to seven-point-one percent.

Figures from the Bureau of Statistics show more than 227,000 jobs were lost last month alone.

WA’s unemployment rate also rose sharply – up two percent to 8.1 percent – the highest rate in the country.
