WA crayfishermen can breathe a sigh of relief as Australia resumes exporting western rock lobster to China.

In 2020, the Chinese government restricted the importation of several Australian goods, with rock lobster being the last item to have trade restrictions eased.

Bruce Cockman, Deputy Chair of the Western Rock Lobster Council, explained to 6PR’s Chrissy Morrissey the impact the ban had on the industry.

“We thought it might have been a while, but we didn’t expect it to last as long as it has. There’s been no profit really, so everyone’s just been hanging on,” he said.
