A prominent Perth business owner’s call for WA’s border opening to be delayed has sparked a flurry of feedback to the station.

MuzzBuzz proprietor Warren Reynolds told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings opening the border on February 5 would increase unemployment, close businesses and cause unnecessary fatalities.

“The biggest problem I have with reopening is the number of deaths it is going to cause,” he said.

“I just can’t get my head around that we can open the borders and accept that so many people are going to die in this state.”

Mr Reynolds said there were other implications to opening WA next month.

“What’s the economic benefit to open the borders? None that I can see. We are flat out. Our economy is fantastic … why would we open the borders?”

His comments hit a nerve with listeners, with some vowing to boycott Mr Reynolds’ popular drive-thru coffee business, which would likely remain open if parts of WA went into lockdown.
