This week in West Aussie Greats Gareth Parker talks to Alec Coles, CEO of the Western Australia Museum.

Mr Coles came to Western Australia from the United Kingdom to take the position over 11 years ago.

In that time he has overseen seven sites, including the recently developed Boola Bardip site, which officially re-opened last year.

“Pretty much my career has been trying to make museums accessible to everyone,” he told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.

“The diversity of content, the ability to get close to real things, that’s what museums are special for.

“There’s no substitute for getting in front of the real thing.”
