What is really Gluten Free?
A study has revealed some items marked ‘Gluten Free’ do not meet Australian standards due to the improvement in testing standards.
Professor Geoff Forbes worked on the research says the standards could afford to be relaxed a little.
‘The Australian standards for gluten free foods are very tight, but it probably needs to be relaxed every so fractionally so that we don’t run into problems with lack of availability of food. That is, of course, if there is good levels of monitoring of food products.’
