US researchers say their AI can identify a hit song with 97 per cent accuracy.

This comes as the Grammys move to ban artificial intelligence entries, claiming only human creators can be honoured with an award.

Australian music journalist Bernard Zuel joined Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons to talk all things AI music and hit songs.

“A fantastic hit of a song might be a dud released six months earlier or two years later. That’s one thing that they can’t quite predict yet,” Mr Zuel said.
