With the growing number of assistance animals, it’s important to recognise the work of our furry friends, and that’s what the Oz Top Dog Competition is all about.

Gary Adshead was lucky enough to play host to photographer Kestrel and her working companion Onyx on 6PR Mornings, who not only plays an important part in her photography business but also her community work.

“Onyx started as my photography assistant,” Kestrel said.

“Now we go out to the shelters, where he helps the puppies there settle down; there’s a lot of dogs that have issues that want to play, so it’s good to have another dog that can just go in there and sit with them and be a friend.”
