Why a professor thinks school hours are ‘archaic’
After a NSW Liberal MP told Parliament that traditional school hours are a “relic of a sexist, bygone era, a professor has called traditional school hours “a historical artefact”.
Professor of education at CQ University, Ken Purnell, told 6PR Breakfast the traditional school hours of 9am to 3pm is archaic.
“It’s a remnant of previous times, set up in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and there are much smarter ways to do things today,” he said.
