Following the news the minimum wage will be increasing by 5.75 per cent from July 1, ACTU Secretary, Sally McManus told 6PR Mornings she’s happy “overall” with the increase.

“We’re worried that people will have a real wage cut still, however, if inflation tracks to where it should be, people will start seeing a little bit of a rise,” she said.

She also quelled concerns the rise would negatively impact inflation.

“Over the last two decades, its had no impact on inflation, that’s because it’s the people at the bottom, not all workers,” she said.
