Why we’re behind the 8-ball luring paramedics back home
More than 2000 paramedics from Australia are currently working in Britain, prompting calls for governments to do more to encourage their return.
Australasian College of Paramedicine chair Ryan Lovett says when he saw that number it was a bit of a shock, but he believes they can be lured back.
“It is making sure we are providing the right healthy working conditions in Australia,” he told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.

“It’s also about recognising that paramedics do more than sit in the front of an ambulance … we know they can work across the full spectrum of health and we need to open up those opportunities in Australia and help bring the back.”
