After closing the East Rockingham Pioneer Cemetery, the local council have advised widows they can no longer be buried in the pre-purchased lots next to their husbands. It’s due to a change in legislation.

Widow, Sheila Goble and City of Rockingham Mayor, Deb Hamlin spoke to 6PR Mornings host Gary Adshead on the emotional impact and next steps.

“We’ve always known we were going to be there together,” Goble said.

“I’m hoping between the minister, the metropolitan board and the City of Rockingham we can come up with some compassionate way through this,” Hamlin said.
