DFES duty district officer Steve Summerton told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast that SES volunteers had responded to 305 requests for assistance from the community since Sunday.
“Most of the damage was water egress into houses through blocked drains or gutters, there were some reports of trees falling onto patios and roofs …but no major damage that I was aware of,” he said.
9 News Perth reporter Ezra Holt told Parker the destructive weather had caused a massive gum tree to fall in South Lake.
“Obviously a dangerous situation but it has been cleared now,” he said.
The SES and DFES fielded hundreds of calls for assistance, as suburbs were flooded with heavy rains and left without power, including 1600 homes in and around Mundaring and more than 3500 across the state, with more than 60mm of rain falling over Perth since Sunday evening.
