The semi-secret Russian paramilitary Wagner group may challenge Vladimir Putin’s control over the country and the Russo-Ukrainian War, if reports are too be believed.

Associate Professor of National Security and Strategic Studies at Curtin University Alexey Muraviev told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the Wagner Group’s leader Yevgeny Prigozhin has strong connections in Putin’s inner circle.

“He’s supported by the hardliners who are not really happy with the way that Putin and the Kremlin are officially conducting the war, ” Professor Muraviev said.
