Wind farm expert dismissive of public’s concern around wind turbines
With 600 wind turbines set to be erected in regional WA, residents are concerned about the potential impact.
6PR’s Chrissy Morrissy spoke to Public Health Professor Simon Chapman from the University of Sydney about the concerns.
“People are anxious before they go up, but what we find is that after they’re up, there are very, very few complaints, and when those complaints are investigated, they really come to nothing,” he said.
Chrissy continued the conversation with Phillip Blight, Shire of Wagin President, who disagreed with Professor Simon Chapman and explained how vital it is for the state government to reveal its plan before landowners sign land over to wind farm companies.
“Anyone who thinks these turbines are the great saviour of our planet is unfortunately severely wrong,” he said.
