Workplace deaths are ‘heartbreaking and unacceptable’: CFMEU
The recent death of a 16-year-old in a Welshpool has continued what the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union has labelled a “spate” of workplace deaths this year, forcing reflection on how junior workers are treated.
CFMEU State Secretary Mick Buchan told Gary Adshead there is obviously something wrong with the development of younger workers leading to the high number of fatalities.
“It beggars belief,” Mr Buchan said.
“I’m not sleeping at night just to work out what can be done about this.”
