If you’re a snooze button pusher, there’s some bad news for you, as research has indicated that the more alarms you have, the higher your heart rate.

US researchers found that those who set a sequence of alarms to wake them up in the morning are more likely to have a higher heart rate than those who rise to just one.

Stephen Mattingly from the University of Notre Dame in the United States told Gareth Parker that people have an increased heart rate when they use the snooze button.

“Having an alarm which you can imagine is alarming,” he told 6PR Breakfast.

“We could see that you could increase heart rate and stress, and that helps people wake up in the morning,

“People who snooze do increase their heart rate before waking up for the day.”
